What Was YOUR First Job? Here Are Ours!

WE ALL HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE! We’re interested in hearing about YOUR first job!

We Asked Team Members The Same Questions We’re Asking YOU:

  1. What was your first job?
  2. Tell us about your experience! Did you love it or hate it?

Here Are Some Of Our Team Member’s Answers:

Dr. Williams:

“Little Caesars was my first job and I have to say I hated every aspect of it. I hated it so bad that whenever I was within like a 5 mile radius of this business I would have crazy anxiety issues. However this job reinforced my desire to go to college and I am so glad I completed college and now have a job I love!”

Megan:

“Beckley Travel Plaza Gift Shop was my first job. I loved the people I worked with and loved getting to work with my good friends from high school. I disliked the job. So many travelers and you would get six coach buses full of people all the time. But, it made the day go by fast!”

Joyce:

“My first job was a sales associate for Deb shops. One of my bosses at the time is a dental assistant at our office now. I must have loved the job, because I stayed with the company for 16 years and moved up through the ranks.”

Vanessa:

“I worked at Ben Franklins when I was 16. I learned how to work with the public so I enjoyed it!”

Mary:

“When I was 16 I worked at one of the first fast food hamburger joints in Beckley called Burger Boy. You could get and 8oz bag of burgers for $2.00. I liked it. I waited on customers and took their orders. “

Tina:

“I worked at Deb shop when I was 16. I loved the job and loved getting the discount on clothes. However, I hated working on Saturday afternoon because it interfered with watching football in the fall.”

Brittany:

“My first job was working at a daycare after school when I was 15. I really enjoyed it and was able to help kids with stuff like their school work and do things with them that they didn’t get a chance to do at home.”

Michelle Obama’s First Job

At the 1:08 mark, Michelle talks about her first job at a book bindery.

My first job was working in North Carolina in the tobacco fields. I loved the homemade meals by the farmers and the pay. I didn’t like working from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and sqeexing the tobacco worms ever time I grabbed a bundle of green tobacco leaves. But what an experience riding the picker.

Elizabeth, that job sounds like an experience. We enjoyed hearing about that we all found it so interesting working in the tobacco fields. You will have to tell us more when we seen you at your next visit!
